    I just walked by a barber shop on the LES and a 30 something Asian dude emerged into the afternoon light with a cut so fresh I was thisclose to spontaneously complimenting him and then he said right out loud “feels good!”

    Ok I know "trading hours for dollars" is supposed to suck or whatever. But I talk to people about their lives and philosophy all month, send invoices with a few clicks, and then their money flies into my virtual pockets and I'm having trouble feeling terribly oppressed by this

    tl;dr: if you want, you can completely set aside what "counts" as trauma, was it "bad enough," etc. instead, think about the problem in terms of: 1. vestigial lessons and 2. thwarted development.
