back in 2019, buzzfeed also laid off 15 percent of its workforce, with very similar language to what peretti is using now. at what point does it become clear that maybe the employees aren't the problem in this scenario?

Jonah Peretti told the newsroom today that BFN closing is "a massive failure on my part and I'm deeply sorry for it." To be clear, this newsroom has "pivoted" over & over & over AND had annual layoffs as Jonah kept failing us.
But he says yes, he's still staying on as CEO.

Once again, it isn't the CEO stepping down after admitting he made a bunch of mistakes. It isn't the people who got the company into an unsustainable place. It's the people who do the work the whole company is built on who get fucked.
