@amazonv Baofeng UV-5R or UV-5R+ with the Diamond extended 15" dual-band antenna. Or Yaesu FT-60r. Both good HT options. -
@amazonv some will suggest Baofeng, they’re cheap but you get what you pay for. Yaesu FT-60r is $150 new (less used) and a solid radio. -

@amazonv There are some low cost handheld radios by Baofeng now. I started w Kenwood THF6A and loved it. Congrats! -
