Pakistan already did that. Staying there longer was not going to change that and honestly we failed there entirely. Nothing we did over the past 20 years was apparently effective in getting the Afghanistan people ready for the Taliban.

is I think an erroneous assumption/assertion. Taliban of the 21st cent are moderate as compared to their past history and they would for sure know how to rule in today’s world. They are projecting themselves as a feasible and reliable alternative to the region and the world.
