Saw this today: It says, "You don't have to be a social justice warrior; you can be a social justice wizard (learn all you can, use what you know); be a social justice warlock (tap into powers greater than yourself); be a sj cleric (keep the faith, heal with your words)" 1/

I do volunteer work, from home. 2 hours (minimum) per week, but I can schedule up to 3 weeks off if I need to. When I worked outside the house, or when both my kids needed 24/7 care, I couldn't have done 2 hours a week. No shame if you can't.

I had a lecturer at uni who hated the word; it was being used to describe neglected 3-year-olds who *hadn't* suffered structural brain changes, due to being neglected (most do). I loathe the glorification of "resilience" and the related contempt for compassion and empathy.

"Psychological resilience is the ability to mentally or emotionally cope with a crisis or to return to pre-crisis status quickly." In the context of an exploitative system, there is really no way not to hate the concept.

It's a pet hate of my own. When I hear people fresh from "resilience training" talking about "emotional intelligence", "personal emotional responsibility" and "perspective" it makes me gag. It's the latest buzz word get-out-clause for abusers - their victims lacked resilience.

Maybe you're "Alexander the Greater," did you ever think about that? Or "The Greatest." Or... not to take a joke and make it serious, but... maybe we'd feel best if we stop comparing ourselves with others/how we used to be, and just focus on trying to work with who we are now.

I feel like a lot of the autistic community is overly picky with words in a counterproductive manner. I'm sure I'm guilty of it also. A lot of autistic people struggle to find words at all, and whichever words they choose shouldn't have to be perfect to be accepted

I do most of the time. I also cut Hubs' hair; the 1st time I did it, he freaked out (his hair is 3 inches shorter dry, than wet, because of curls) because he was convinced I'd ruin it. It looked better (healthier, more even) than after his last professional cut. So there.

A lot of the toxicity in my family comes from undiagnosed older autistics brutally enforcing conformity in the same manner it's been done to them by the previous generation.

This is also advice that would work for my 2 (one is 13, with ASD + nonspecific LD, and the other is 11, with ASD + suspected ADHD). My 2 ask "rude" questions, and I'm a bit shit at functioning through my embarrassment, so guides like this are incredibly helpful.

Who are LGB Alliance? Are they an LGB rights organisation, or are they an anti-trans organisation? Can they be both? I did some analysis of their followers to find out. A THREAD⬇️

I'm B'Elanna Torres, and/or the Romulan Commander from OS episode, "The Enterprise Incident." Special mention: all of the characters who understand who they are, but struggle to express it to others (Spock, Data, Worf, Odo, and the sexiest lizard, aka Garak).

When people scream "ban all single use plastics!" I wonder if they realize that single use plastics in medical settings save literally countless lives every year. I get it, you love sea turtles and hate straws and disabled people, but maybe also listen to medical professionals?

Why do so many disability services expect you to talk on the phone? Have they never heard of ? Disabled people are an afterthought to society. Autistic people don't even rate that high.
