    my girlfriend just gave me this book for my birthday because I've been having a really rough time with finances & life & relationships & life and it's SO wonderful. Thank you for writing it 🥰 My gf, Starr, told me she had given a copy to another friend years ago2!

    new zealand lockdown diary, day 61. i just looked forward to a takeaway chocolate croissant for 5 hours & finally went to buy it & walked to a beautiful bench to eat it in a rare moment of solitude & i ate three bites & a fucking waiheke seagull came & stole it out of my hands.

    thank you all for all the great recommendations on this thread!! in my nineteenth incarnation when i actually have time i will start a children’s book blog. for now, i won’t. maybe a patreon post down the line, though. i’ve got a lot of great kids books to share at this point 📚

    kiwi update on yesterday’s national …we blew by the goal of 100k shots! new zealand administered 130k vaccine shots yesterday and 89% (!!) of aucklanders have now had their first shot. i am so proud of this country. and so humbled and grateful to be here. 🇳🇿🎉♥️

    well…i didn’t think THIS would happen today. i got a text from a vaccine-hesitant friend asking for moral support as she took the dive to get her 1st shot during today’s national …and wound up singing cheerleader karaoke with the health center staff. WHATEVER WORKS!!!

    getting vaccinated is very scary for many people. hold them all you can. and extra special love to all the healthcare workers, shops, drivers, radio hosts, restaurants & volunteers who are working so tirelessly on the vaxathon today. WE GOT THIS, TEAM OF FIVE MILLION!! 💉🎉👌💃🇳🇿

    TO EVERYONE IN NEW ZEALAND: so proud of you if you got a shot today!! if you’re out there & vaxxed, take any time you can to get a friend off the fence and take them, hold their hands, sing them songs, buy them ice cream, and do whatever you gotta do to help them feel supported.

    the best moment was actually when a teenage girl, shaking with fear, came in with her mom. while she got her shot, i sang her “someone like you” by adele, and we all got to applaud for her and tell her how proud of her we all were. 😭

    i wound up doing a half an hour of requests and dancing with the whole incredible crew of health workers. noora and i did a couple of great duets (including “summer nights” from grease with the whole clinic doing the wella-wella-wella parts).

    it’s SUPER SATURDAY here in aotearoa new zealand - a day-long to try to get 100k shots in arms so that we can edge closer to getting out of lockdown. i was supposed to be watching ash…but when i got that text i chucked him with our bubble neighbors and headed downtown.
