Earlier this fall, I had a convo that’s kept me up nearly every night since: A supporter told me that while they loved , they simply couldn’t make us a priority going into 2020. “We have to beat Trump,” they said. “Everything else is on hold.” (/1)

My 7 year old was tapping away on my Mac tonight and told me he was writing a book. I think you’ll agree it’s one hell of an opening.

Democrats only need to flip 4 of 100 seats to take control of Iowa's state House in 2020. Doing so won't just be important for protecting abortion rights but also to stop Republicans from subverting Iowa's nonpartisan redistricting process so they can gerrymander

"In just 3 years, more than 46,000 young people have told us they want to run for office. We’ve endorsed 953 all-stars & elected 304 people across 49 states + DC. Our elected officials are 54% women, 47% people of color, and 18% LGBTQ."

  11. Today — like every day! — is a good day to help amazing diverse candidates running for local office. Person-to-person grassroots organizing around local issues will never disappoint you.

  14. This is still true! And even better: No caucuses in November. The organizing done over the last year still matters.

  15. There is no feeling quite like the catharsis of election night — I’m so sad for all the campaign staffers and volunteers who gave so much time, money and heart to compete in the Iowa caucuses, only to be denied that giant exhale that comes after giving it their all.

  16. As if there weren’t already so many reasons to get rid of the Iowa caucuses, now we have to listen to notoriously terrible person Rick Santorum defend them? Pass.

  17. Two hours of watching caucuses is a nice reminder of how difficult it would be for anyone — let alone the Democratic Party — to rig the entire primary.

  18. “Quality control” is a very good thing and cable news should stop saying it in a conspiratorial tone.

  19. Caucuses are bad but it’s real fun to watch in real-time how voters veer between candidates — realignment is rarely on straightforward ideological lines and more often is just unexpected or inexplicable.

  20. The filing deadline for Iowa’s state & federal offices is 3/13 and 3/25 for county offices. If caucusing is inspiring you to run yourself, look up what’s available at your address:

Iowa caucus incredibly undemocratic: -No absentee voting or secret ballot -1000s with disabilities can’t participate -40,000 with past felony convictions barred from voting -Rural counties get more delegates than urban ones This is not good way to choose party nominee
