My fav things about this thread so far have been at least a handful of people discovering they are related to one another on the thread and also one man tweeting about his great uncle and a historian having a very rare photo of said great uncle he had never seen.

My last name, meaning House of God, was traced back to it’s original conception of an Italian Orphanage who named children with no known last name after the orphanage.

My great-grandmother was arrested for distributing Margaret Sanger birth control information in our home town, Salt Lake City.

I’m not sure the exact year, but I think 1920s/30s? She grew up Mormon and both of her parents were the children of large polygamist families. She was ahead of her time in understanding the importance of reproductive freedom.

I have 2: My grandmother married a guy in a quickie ceremony before he shipped off to fight in WWII. He was killed in action and his best friend started writing her to console her. When he returned they met in person, fell in love and were married for over 65 years!
