Why do we continue to blame sexual assault survivors instead of the perpetrator themselves? Specifically women (as you left Jay-Z completely out of this tweet.)

Does Jay-Z present himself as an advocate for survivors of sexual violence? Has he tokenized other survivors in order to generate good PR for himself? No and no. That’s why.
-
So as long as you didn’t support it in the first place - you’re good? I can’t stand by that logic. You don’t know her story and you don’t know what her trauma/journey has been like. It’s not uncommon for survivors to ignore their pain for years like she did.
-
No, the issue is this: she claims to be an advocate for survivors but given the opportunity to advocate for the specific group of survivors brutalized by a man who was a well known serial rapist decades before she chose to associate with him, she refuses. That’s not acceptable.
-
Hold everyone who worked with him to that same standard. I’m not going to defend her for DWUW. But, she is by far, not the only one at fault. She was NOT the only one refusing to comment.
-
You are free to do that. I am going to do something else, because I’m capable of assessing multiple facts simultaneously and understand both position and nuance.

How can she condemn something that she may not know anything about? and no I’m not defending that weirdo Kelly
-
The rumours and stories on him have been out there for years, add the stories about him and Aaliyah and I’d be shocked if the industry didn’t know
-
Hyperbole is not the same as knowing we may be diligent about knowing but others may not care is all I’m saying I’m not supporting that weirdo
-
No, you are making really shitty excuses for gaga and her repeat and unacceptable failure. Be a better human being. If you can’t say something meaningful, don’t say anything at all.
-
So because I asked a question I’m a bad human being? Smh lol
-
why y’all coming for her so bad all she saying is gaga might not not directly know or have any personal experiences to r kelly horrible acts. Gaga just doesn’t wanna speak on something she doesn’t 100% know
-
Because it’s bullshit.
-
maybe she just doesn’t wanna be apart of the series we can’t just condemn or judge because she declined to be in a series maybe she is being a hypocrite maybe there were other reasons. who knows

No. We don’t know what her reasoning is
-
There is no acceptable reason for someone who claims to be an advocate for survivors of sexual violence to refuse to do as little as releasing a statement in support of these survivors.
-
It's funny how a WHITE woman suddenly becomes a scapegoat for you out of all celebrities who collaborated with R. Kelly. I can see a pattern.
-
It’s funny how that’s your thinking without any recognition of the position that particular woman has placed herself.
-
She is free to distance herself from R. Kelly (she doesn't owe anything to anyone). Being involved in the controversy would hurt her brand. The fact that your anger is directed towards a white woman (who's currently collecting number ones worldwide) is very telling.
-
My anger is directed toward someone who claims to advocate for survivors of sexual violence and could do so here but refuses. The problem is the hypocrisy.
