Super cool how we have a system where one woman dies and everyone is concerned it’s the end of democracy. Seems like a totally normal form of governance.

Many schools prohibit students from working outside jobs. Why would it matter how many hours they work then?

Today in bargaining I asked @Georgetown point blank if they think $35k is enough to live on in DC. Their answer: PhD students don’t work 40h a week (any PhD student knows how ridiculous that claim is) and for that reason we shouldn’t be paid enough to cover food and rent…

Not a huge sample size for the Snyder games but it’s optimistic that we are *trying* to take more threes after he took over. Hawks should be excited about next year.

Looking for a Mets fan to be friends with. I can’t enjoy baseball without having someone to pick on please.

You’re telling me young men aged 19-29 are more likely to recognize a blockbuster film maker than a radio personality in 2023? Shocking!

Howard Stern says black NBA players ignores him at Knicks games “The Black players won’t come over and say hello to me, but they go over to Spike Lee. I grew up in a Black neighborhood, you know what I mean? I mean they should know that. But I get ignored.” (h/t @RTNBA )

So the solution is to…murder them? How on earth are we having THIS discussion?

I ride the subway a lot. Not a week goes by that a mentally ill person doesn't get on and terrorize the entire car—especially women, especially Asians. Usually the men just sit there and pretend it's not happening. It's a disgrace that working New Yorkers have to live like this.

It’s interesting that a nation founded on principled opposition to capitalist ideals and foreign investment has made these its defining attributes under Modi/BJP rule

Brazil is a fascinating case study. It borders 10 states (including France) - makes for a wonderful place to study border regions.

What’s France’s longest border? With Spain? With Belgium? With Italy? Why not it’s with BRAZIL of course!!! A thread on the EU’s only South American border 🇧🇷🇫🇷 🧵

Worth noting there’s a difference between Indian-Americans and Indians but whatever

MLK Jr. got his idea of nonviolent protest from Gandhi, but I’m not going to sit here & say that means black Americans owe Indians some “debt of gratitude.” All 3 of us are kids of immigrants & we owe gratitude to *America*, not to a racial group. @joyannreid @rokhanna twitter.com/RepRoKhanna/st…

This website has never been and will never be a place for complicated conversations. Another purposefully misleading tweet by online “scholars”, what’s new?

Brutal second half from Trae. He was moving the ball really well though. Not a total non factor on offense.
Quote Tweet
Trae Young had 25 points (8-15 FG, 4-8 from 3, 5-5 FT) in the first half, but went 1-13 from the field in the second half (0-4 from 3, 3-3 FT) for five points. Finishes with 30 points and 10 assists.
Tough season but not a horrible ending. A quality off-season with Quin Snyder could make the difference. There will be a lot of pressure on this team next year.

Judge in a UP court trying MPs/MLAs: "Indian Constitution and laws expire at the border of Uttar Pradesh, as soon as the Delhi border ends...It’s like when people wear the helmet in Delhi, but remove it as soon as they reach Ghaziabad in UP or Haryana,”

The charges are still kind of ridiculous but I think it’s okay to say this wasn’t just “moving a chair” or harmless lmao. I mean he obviously threw it.
Quote Tweet
Had this sent to me, Idk original source. Credit to them. It is unreal how something as harmless as moving a chair can get the assault label and ensuing fallout. Everyone involved is a joke.

Reading “India After Gandhi” and I am shocked at B.R Ambedkar’s position on Satyagraha in India. Addressing the 1949 Constituent Assembly he says that these methods of protest are “nothing but the Grammar of Anarchy and the sooner they are abandoned, the better for us”

We’re really letting these growth rates comments slide without much conversation. Do any of these candidates understand that >5% growth rates means people’s salaries would theoretically double in less than 12 years? Doesn’t this warrant a *little* more pushback?

For all the grief about Trae’s defense: he came up with a huge deflection to tie the game and honestly had fantastic position against White, just an unfortunate whistle.

Nothing is more indicative of modern culture than the internet finding mean girls and then bullying them to the point that they also disappear from social media and lose their jobs.

Last night Trae had 15 points in the 4th quarter and no TOs. For the game he had 9 assists and 4 total TOs. Less ref complaining and a few great defensive plays. People need to stop asking for LeBron like performances from him. This is a great game from a great point guard.
