Today on the anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education ruling when SCOTUS unanimously held that segregation in public schools violates the Equal Protection Clause of our Constitution, we are reminded that our battle against inequality - in its many forms - continues.

Over the last decade, North Carolina A&T University

In 2011, A&T's campus was packed into a long & contorted congressional district (CD12) that ran alongside Interstate 85, from Greensboro to Charlotte. That map was struck down in a case that made its way to SCOTUS, which held that CD12 was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander.

Knowing that they could no longer get away with racial gerrymandering, self-serving politicians determined to preserve their political power found another way to diminish the voices of Black students and communities of color. Partisan gerrymandering.

In 2016, after new maps were ordered to remedy the prior map’s racial gerrymandering, elected officials then split the
