    JMU English students are diving into Harrisonburg immigrant oral histories with the expert guidance of - I’m so excited to watch this project unfold!

    One thing is for sure, our archivists love talking about media in all formats! 🤓 We are excited to work with and students this semester as they explore oral history holdings in SC, and create new narratives through their projects. Stay tuned for more!

    Can anyone in point towards scholarship examining how students of color fare in large survey/high enrollment PWI classrooms? &, related or secondarily, addressing whether there is an enrollment threshold at which class size no longer matters in terms of outcomes?

    Harvard’s denial of tenure to Dr. Lorgia García Peña is yet another example of the combination of outrageousness and predictability that is woven into the fabric of institutional racism, a fabric lining our caps and gowns, our lives and livelihoods.

    "it is critical to note that Professor García-Peña is the only Latina professor on the tenure track." The ONLY Latina on the tenure track at Harvard just got denied tenure, despite an award-winning book, numerous articles, national fellowships and awards under her belt.

    I feel this as a teacher, too. Any small amount of respite or clarity or hope I can offer comes from the writers, the poems, and the stories I am so lucky to share with my students. And from the rooms where we read them together.

    So, know this: for most Americans, push has already come to shove. If you are a writer, editor, producer or journalist with any kind of influence please know that it is, in fact, do or die out here. People are suffering and counting on us to provide respite, clarity or hope.
