For those of you in this thread arguing for tougher penalties (I do NOT support capital punishment and I can't believe I have to say that) the problem is not the penalty, it's the lack of prosecution https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/real-life/news-life/terrifying-truth-about-rape-convictions-it-shatters-your-belief-that-the-world-is-a-safe-place/news-story/9fc4a65689f180b3534d79f4fd019b8e …

Hi Alison, You are absolutely right. Also, there are no stringent laws in this country to deter criminals from committing such terrible crimes. Criminals use this to their advantage knowing well we have useless fools for politicians. Nigel

We need tough laws like in Singapore where death is the punishment for anyone committing such crimes. It's a very effective deterrent.

Victoria govt worries more about the perpetrator than the victims, weak govt equals weak laws

Sad thing is the law protects criminals, justice system needs an overhaul. Derryn Hinch has been harping on this for years. Penalties are just not enough to deter this kind of behaviour. Too many loopholes. I fear for the society that my daughter will grow up in.

Remember he is the guy who took house arrest but pushes for TOUGH SENTENCING...his loophole for having sex with a teenager is nobody has charged him even though he admitted it
