v interesting. thanks for mentioning egregore, I think that just gave my research a new (much-needed direction). happened upon your site while researching subcultures (not dead, just sublimated & distributed) and egregore seems like a good term for what I think they've become

actually didn't know about LW until I looked it up just now! I think the concept is pretty straightforward (assuming the reader knows what epistemology is) but it's definitely an obscure way of categorizing knowledge contra everything else on the web.
