minecraft servers are unironically a hotbed of political innovation (or at least learning) there's so much I learned from my own, though I never installed economy plugins because honestly I ain't here to work for pay
we had these two competing bodies of law (admin law which was global and moderator-enforced and player law which you could opt into and which was grounded in contract law) and it was great fun watching people figure out loopholes in player law to conquer the server's nations

also in absence of public teleporting, we had a libertarian transport system where every nation and settlement tried to have the most splendid rails and roads and it was a major source of status, we even had huge nerds (*cough* me *cough*) maintain subway maps
