as a pacifist, it strikes me as dumb to go to the frontlines of a protest that's bound to escalate, that shit I leave to nonpacifists

if somebody attacks me, sure I have an excuse (and possibly an obligation) to attack back, but why let that happen in the first place

violence can be prevented in many ways and fighting people is usually not one of them, even if the other side is violent by default
