It does sound suspiciously romantic, but irreducible complexity is a thing. Probably not in all relevant social domains, though.

one theory I have for this is that sociology's subjects *know* about theories about them, you can't really theorize in peace

it's a total mess since you end up changing your molecules' behavior by talking about them
nah, dampening and saturation effects should kick in after very few iterations!
