you probably know this but what's nice about a solution-centric approach is that it's stateless and doesn't rely on prediction

if you're Kant for example, you craft maximes through thought experiments so that you'll act Good in every situation
when acting according to these maximes, you don't need to consider the consequences (at least so the theory goes)

I believe the modernism you describe is motivated similarly but has fallen into a problemspace where that doesn't work so well
