I was hoping to make archive copies of a bunch of CDs so I could throw out the original physical disks. Harder than I expected. So I'll just settle for lossless ripping. But many rippers can't read hidden tracks and even when they can, many CD drives can't read them.

according to the redacted wiki, the weapon of choice here is XLD (tmkk.undo.jp/xld/index_e.ht) - I've not used it, but when they approve it it's generally good

Yeah, I found that. Tried to rip a CD with hidden track. Failed. Looked in forums. Maybe I need to try again with different options. Maybe I need to run it twice. You probably know how it is with old poorly documented tools...

oh yeah occasionally it's also a drive issue, especially with obscure ways of doing hidden tracks

Yeah, sone CD drives refuse to read before first track. But old CD players from the 80s have no problem
