"there's this mental move that grants a substantial intelligence bonus" means that there's probably an evolutionarily sound reason that that's not enabled by default, and furthermore that this value has seen a decent amount of tuning

that's not how IQ works, but yes I agree it's only a shorthand for intelligence that lets you talk about it in kinda-sorta-but-not-really quantifiable way

I wouldn't have used it if I weren't referencing a saying that says "a change of perspective is worth 80 IQ points"
also I do know smart people that have children so it's not an issue of intelligence alone, in fact the very top elites have lots of children on average
