i assume ppl have tried but it's weird there's no e-reader or fiction publisher doing musical or ambient sound accompaniment tied to page number, with smooth transitions between pages or sections

yeah, pure storytelling with video games is definitely similar. maybe if it does happen with books it'll arrive from this side, rather than from the book industry

hmm yeah i can see that. i vaguely remember reading about Dear Esther when it came out, very strange
there definitely are audiobooks with music & sound effects. but i've never heard of anything that's literally paired to words on a page, an epub file or whatever
