letting someone follow onesidedly on priv = "I trust you, and we likely have other comm channels anyway"
there are people whom I consider friends but who have the worst taste in tweets, and I'd rather unfollow than mute them (muting feels dishonest)

idk for me mutuals are fren, priv/DM close fren
i do agree muting feels a little dishonest but the muted party usually doesn't find out/if they do it feels more understandable and less personal (it's *only* about the tweets)
unfollow feels like an eternally severed tie

idk if it's my 'tism but recently someone who had broken mutuals long ago followed again and it feels like they rose up from the dead, i still scratch my eyes to make sure it's real when we interact
