talking to actually published writers made me realize it most likely isn't worth all the concessions you have to make, just go crazy instead is what I'd recommend

maybe another anti-JS angle would be "plain text still works 10-20 years into the future"
Standard HTML, JS, and CSS are one of the few computing primitives that you can be highly confident will automatically work on the nearest computer-like thing to hand 10-20 years in the future.
