This recipe for removing annoying crud from the new twitter, using uBlock Origin, worked for me.
(Now we just need an add-on that automatically and invisibly clicks "See latest tweets instead" every few minutes...)

I currently use the 'a[href="/compose/tweet"] + div div[class=css-1dbjc4n] > article' to select ad tweets but I'm unsure whether the class is stable
