i already double-check every statement i make, which catches like 80% of potential misinformation, but sometimes i spend a lot of time doing that and *still* end up saying something very wrong
there's no way to rectify this. at all. it's effectively permanent

if i just delete the original tweet people will remember it and spread the misinformation further. i know because i did that before myself

Replying to
replying to the tweet while quoting it should address both web twitter users and list users / alternative clients; it may not reach all readers but a good percentage of them (I too would prefer edits though)

my model is that anybody who cares enough to reference it will expand the original tweet and see the correction reply?
