I literally just today came up with a scheme for hosting a certain 65TB of research paper on a budget and consumer hardware, in a nutshell it's "stick a bunch of 1GB zip files into a git annex"

downside is, being git it's a trusted setup and not for beginners (especially so since it's a git annex), but with that much data even merely maintaining a copy is involved so the barrier to entry is high anyway
