What's esp frustrating about the movie, to me, is that it shows some awareness that Feldstein's character isn't coming from the same economic background as many of her classmates, but doesn't want to engage with what that means re the whole premise

It has a blind spot with that "shotgun" line- a Black woman would never be able to say that to a cop. Was a turn off in the preview.

I felt this particularly strongly during the pat-yourself-on-the-back Q&A at the SFFilm premiere. Great representation in some areas (gender, sexuality), but class seemed like a pretty glaring blindspot. Which is barely a criticism, just an observation.

This is why The Florida Project is one of the best films of the last decade, and it barely got talked about. I liked Booksmart a lot, but these are good points.
