Sunset Strip in 1952. To think my dad had just moved out to L.A. at this time. He was living on Orchid Ave at the time with Nicky Blair. They could’ve easily been traveling in one of these cars - probably headed to Ciro’s which dad went on to headline the following year!

Score of the day at the MIKE CONNORS estate sale! I picked this original artwork up at the Mike Connors estate sale today in Encino. I would say this was probably presented as a special occasion gift to Mike Connors. It’s by artist Shel Starkman. MANNIX SWINGS”. Yes, he does‼️

“The Theme Building” at the LA International Airport is considered an architectural example of the Space-Age design movement later to become known as "Googie”. This photo is actually from an old Viewmaster! Those were pretty space-age too!

Ben was shot through living room window. The gunman was never caught, although at the same moment, three of Meyer Lansky’s henchmen walked into the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas and declared that they were taking over his casino.

It’s been decades since this historic property was on the market. This is the home where Bugsy Siegel was gunned down on Linden Dr. He was leasing it for girlfriend Virginia Hill at the time. Thank you realtor Myra Nourmand for allowing me inside to document it for Vintage LA

Backstage, Season 1: I'm offstage waiting for a cue. The script's been a tough one, so we're giving it 110% and the audience is having a great time. Cindy scoots by me to make her entrance and with a glorious grin, says: "Show's cookin'!". Amen. Thank you, Cindy.

The old “Fish Shanty” near Restaurant Row back when L.A. used to be a playful pocket of whimsical themed eateries, amusement parks, & nightclubs surrounded by an amazing landscape of kooky architecture. Screen grab from “THE LOVED ONE” released in 1965.

The unforgettable Chick Vennera dancing to “Leatherman’s Theme” on car hoods & telephone booths at the old OSKO’S nightclub on La Cienega in THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY. I just marvel at how talented Chic was. One of the best scenes of 1978 -right next to “Greased Lightning” in GREASE

They also drive by the old Islander themed tiki restaurant, Aaron Brothers, Tail o the Pup, and the Coronet bar & theatre.A wonderful, moody, L.A. time-capsule. A fascinating look back on the city when it full of smog, but wasn’t congested, and had wide open Spaces.

There is so much to be seen in this 1 minute clip. The cars stop at Beverly Blvd and La Cienega. On the left would be Rexall drugs, and Kiddieland amusement park would be on the right with derricks still visibly pumping oil at that time. (Today it’s the Beverly Center)

Gary Lockwood follows Anouk Aimée in his MG up La Cienega in the 1969 L.A. film THE MODEL SHOP. This flick has had a lot of influence on pop culture. It can be seen an episode of MAD MEN and surly inspired Tarantino for Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. Especially the driving scenes

Ralph's parking lot in the 1950's at Hollywood & Taft. Some of those structures on the left are still standing. In fact, the 3rd or 4th house up the street was used in "A Woman Under the Influence” in 1974.
