So excited to share intriguing behavioral evidence that schema memory forms early, decays with time and yet still influences episodic retrieval more when those memories are weaker. The plot thickens...amazing collab with !

Excited to share new lab paper by former postdoc and current Asst Prof (and twitterless) Jarid Goodman. Jarid developed a very cool VR task to show that inducing anxiety impairs hippocampus-dependent spatial memory, but spares striatal-based S-R memory

New discussion in Current Biology on one of the most contentious topics in the study of animal behaviour: are other animals "stuck in time", or can they take trips down memory lane?

Excited to share a short piece that and I wrote highlighting recent work by , , on the role of the hippocampus in semantic search. We propose that the hipp does online pattern completion across concepts.

"In lieu of flowers, McEwen’s family asks that donations be made to the newly established Bruce S. McEwen Fund at Rockefeller, which will support causes that Bruce championed such as the university’s science outreach program and its Parents & Science initiative."💗

A brief tribute to the memory of Bruce McEwen in conjunction with the J. Neuro paper he and I co-authored, that appeared on the day he passed. To quote one of our lab members:”May he rest in light”.

I was so nervous to interact w Bruce McEwen before his lecture in a class I TA’d. He was exceptionally kind. One of few profs who offered to help grade exams. He also came to Brain Awareness events & chatted w trainees about outreach. A phenomenal scientist & human

Our postdoc office has basically stopped turning on the lights so we often end up working in darkness and I can’t help but wonder if there’s a deep metaphor here...

1/ Hippocampal-prefrontal awake replay paper in the new issue. CA1 reverse replay for retrospection, forward replay for prospection, with opposing learning gradients. CA1-PFC replay supports past recall and future planning for spatial working memory.
