I'm trying ocaml
-
why are you learning it? Tezos true believer?
-
no I just want haskell but permitting enough impurity to do normal computer things without requiring insane structural patterns like transformer stacks
-
and I hate rust syntax. so this seems like probably the closest thing
-
rust and ocaml don't really have much in way of overlapping domain though (and what you want is far better describing ocaml, yes)

Real World OCaml uses Base if you're interested in that.
-
my usual approach is "syntax cheatsheet, api docs, start writing" but ya base seems like the best option to start with at least
-
I like to start a language implementing either cbc padding oracle or enough of oauth1 to talk to twitter api, both reasonably pleasant and force you to use a healthy variety of language features/libs
