You're not just one thing. You're a conscious reasoning brain with pet body that it's attached to. Just like you can't just tell a pet to exercise, you have to craft your environment to help your body do what's good for it and you.

...you don't notice it, forget it exists, it feels like a natural extension. but when you struggle at all with getting a tool to do what you want the disconnect becomes immediately obvious

anyway the mind/body dualism faded away after I'd been lifting for six months or so, the increasing seamlessness and effortlessness of normal activity made the interface-sense fade away
