          So you have GIL and broken Unicode? 😜 I rather use #Perl6 (doesn't use ref count)

          Zoffix Znet Retweeted Daily Python Tip

          Ah. I don't know Python, so I don't know if it's true, but just saw this tip the other day that you get bugs when reversing Unicode strings: https://twitter.com/python_tip/status/1026354685891014656 … I guess it makes sense, considering python is a 28-year-old language. A grandpa.

          Be careful when reversing #unicode strings. You may be surprised… >>> s = "Welcome in 🇬🇧” >>> s[::-1] '🇧🇬 ni emocleW' (thanks @piskvor for the inspiration!) pic.twitter.com/JKNb0MotzQ

          ..you know perl is 3 years older that python, right?

          Yup, that's why it also has awful outmoded things. Perl6 is a different language tho (confusing name, I know; it's like C/C#). It was released just 2.5 years ago. It don't got Perl's refcount pitfalls, or Python's verbosity/broken Unicode, or miles of boilerplate for threads.

          Zoffix Znet Retweeted Zoffix Znet

          Yeah, it's optimized for reading by those who know the language rather than those who don't, so it can be a bit of a system shock to see all the symbols when you don't know what they mean Here's something I converted awhile back:https://twitter.com/zoffix/status/1019394957185044481 … 30% shorter than Python

          Zoffix Znet added,

          Zoffix Znet @zoffix
          Had to convert a bit of Python to #Perl6. Looked up docs for just one thing (__repr__), rest guessed right. Doubt the same can be done going blind P6➔Py, but final program is a third shorter. Considering I write 99% of my code in languages I know, #Perl6 is the winner for me🤗 pic.twitter.com/8Kqo3qHw32
