Never mind all the startup employees that get hired over beers then decide everyone after them should do binary math.

How many of us have written technical interviews and gone "yeah, this should take them an hour" without testing that theory at all?

At the very least, send your technical interviews to current employees, anonymize their results, and grade them to see if current hires would pass in the allotted time.

Because I know when an interview candidate spent 6 hours on something vs 2 and we all just nod it away and they get a higher score.

I'm seeing concerns that this might eliminate people from non-traditional backgrounds after they've already been hired. If your new interview system suddenly cuts out otherwise good employees, that is a sign it is BUSTED.

That bootcamp grad who gets shit done and everyone loves can't pass your new test? The problem is with your test.

And if you persist with the new interview system, you will miss out on people with similar backgrounds and talents.

And if "test all current employees" is too much, then test a subset. A diverse one. Anonymously. People you trust to keep to the time allotments.

(btw technical interviews take years off my life but I would re-take them if all my coworkers had to do the same and we could trust in the company to use the data for good)
