I punched it down, put it in the fridge, found a youtube video about punching down brioche, took it back out of the fridge and did it like the video

it was soft and slightly buttery on the hands but not sticky like cookie dough. it was easy to handle.

That sounds wonderful! I get cookie dough, and loose half of it trying to wash it off my hands.

sprinkle flour in as it mixes, a tablespoon at a time, until it balls up
