Like all large companies, Google has good pockets and good teams. But there was no guarantee I'd end up in one of them.

What aspect of the surprised reactions of men was sufficient to consume your thoughts years later? Was that aspect not present in the surprised reactions of the women you told?

Because I am genuinely interested as to why a gender as a whole would have a bias towards Google over GitHub.

It's more like, "women had/have access to backchannels of information that men don't because the men don't have to worry about these sorts of concerns."

Is my reading of this correct? Initial gif => "I feel good about my choices and am flaunting it ostentatiously", "had/have access to backchannels of information that men don't" => "privilege", translates to "divisive identity + privilege politics tweet with incendiary intentions"

I've heard from others that you can get used to big company life and only want similar cultures for the rest of your career. Switching to a smaller company can be difficult.

I worked for larger companies than Google (eg Microsoft) and switched to small twice. It was shocking but refreshing. It becomes harder over time though because you desire stability the most.

Yes. It's been a very satisfying few weeks to work for Mr. Benioff. People have varying opinions about him, but he leads from his values and that's important to me.
