My Twitter break was extremely good for my mental and physical health, mostly because I wasn't staring at a constant stream of pain all day. So, something has to change. (Cont'd)

I hate to say it but what about a well curated Reddit? I get a lot of indigenous news from r/indiancountry and I feel like you can section yourself off from shitty communities
-
I've considered this as well! despite my Internet Status I actually don't have a reddit account
-
I wish we still had message boards sometimes but Reddit took the place of all that

Seems like it should be straightforward enough to script something out. Have the program wake up at a certain time each day, pull your feed via Twitter’s API, then send it to you via email or something.

that means I still have it in my feed, though. I want my twitter feed to be Not That.
-
Pretty sure you could use that in combination with lists to have a general Twitter experience which is less taxing, then your “horror hour” digest. I may have to look into it. I’m thinking vaguely like Instapaper’s Kindle output.

@feedbin makes following a twitter account just like subscribing to RSS feed. One of the reasons it’s worth my money.

I use Twitter for the same reasons and have similar struggles. I turn off notifications and check it on my own schedule. I've used AntiSocial (Android app) to block apps at certain times of day to break the habit of reflexively checking. Not ideal, but manageable on my terms.

My rule is anything that both surprises and hurts, gets muted if not blocked Anything that makes it hard to breathe in that not-okay way just straight up doesn't get to talk to me

The only idea I would have is to set up a second heavy filtered twitter account as a news feeder.

If I didn't have certain words blocked I couldn't use this site.

I had similar problems, which I dealt with by crafting a very comprehensive muted word list not checking twitter as the first/last thing in my day. This sounds like a better solution if it exists. Please share if you find something.

I’m feeling this too, please share if you find a good solution. I want to be informed, but without the constant crushing despair.

The closest I have (and it's admittedly not great) is using lists and Tweet Deck so I can keep the columns I don't want to see off the screen until I look for them

I don’t have an answer for you, but I feel the push behind the question so damned hard.
