"The Atheist Muslim" is the story of countless young atheists and agnostics in Muslim societies, risking their lives for the right to think and speak freely.

I've 3 more felony charges against me. Now a total of 5 different charges ranging from blasphemy, insulting Islam, contempt of religion, supporting homosexuality, shaking the peace of the society and "religious extremism". A felony in Egypt means up to 15 years in prison.

Remember this the next time Conservatives complain about the far left censoring students on campuses. Free speech is universal or it is nothing. You cannot oppose censorship by the left but say nothing against censorship from the right

I should have said "anti-theism" here instead of "atheism," but the sentiment still stands. Both are justified and necessary.

I'd like to live in that world one day. But if you had a world where a majority of astrologers were subjugating women, executing gays, launching bombs and killing each other en masse because the moon is in Leo, you can bet that non-astrology would be a movement, and rightly so.

Atheism IS a movement. Historically, we have seen movements against misogyny, against homophobia, against racism, against slavery, against censorship. A movement against religion—which often endorses ALL of these ills in a single book—isn't just justified, but necessary.

Q: What’s the name of the ambassador in Turkey...? A: I don’t have that ... Q: What’s the name of the ambassador in Saudi Arabia right now? A: I see what you’re getting at... Q: The answer is that you don’t have an ambassador in either place, right?

To my Ahmadi Muslim brothers and sisters: We need to educate the Community that critiquing religions we left or deem to be untrue shouldn't be grounds for our families demoting relations to one of a 'mere acquaintance'. Can't we still love one another?

    I’m pro-reason; pro-science; pro-choice; pro-truth; anti-misogyny; anti-homophobia; anti-religion; pro-free speech AND pro-diversity; pro-individual AND civil liberties. These are the reasons I reject both Islam and Republicans.

I had the opportunity to talk with for today's podcast and it was a real honor. We covered his journey from Islam to atheism, broader cultural conversations on secularism, the "intellectual dark web," and much more. Enjoy!
