    Mathematics isn't "out there". It's something we make for each other. It is okay if we learn to make it in new and better ways.

    Of course math has disciplinary worldviews. How could it not? Our collective failure to identify and interrogate our assumptions and worldviews is one of our greatest disciplinary failures.

    I have a no-electronics policy in my classroom, but I also notice that more and more students want to use their phone cameras to take notes from the board, or for referencing their textbooks. What's a reasonable compromise?

    Surprised to see how many people are wrong on the Internet...

    Are f: ℝ→ℝ f(x)= x² and g: ℝ→[0,∞) g(x)= x² the same function (only the ordered pairs matter; codomains are not real) or different functions (sorry, but this is how it has to be; non-surjections are a thing)

    I had to retake my driving test at age 40 (cuz Texas) and I did worse than when I was 16. 😐

    Update: The 16yo did not pass the driving test. We had a mini conference on the way home. "It doesn't mean you're a bad driver, just need to practice then try again"
