Better to promote terminology used by C++ standards guys these days: "zero-overhead abstraction" If users don't understand inherent perf. limits, the combination of zero-cost abstraction and optimization by people more skilled than them can confuse them into believing in magic.

I used the terminology from the quote because it's the one I encounter more often "in the wild", but I hope my explanation of the expression was clear enough to avoid magical thinking - we definitely do not want that.
