Echoing , this new piece by my pal is a must read for understanding dimensionality in the contemporary American mass public. Figures and new methods are also A+, as always!

Schumer does not need the parliamentarian’s blessing to bring a vote on a motion to proceed to the floor. The blunt reality is, and unfortunately, Senate Democrats do not have 60—and most certainty not even 50–votes for this immigration reform package. Blame Senators; not staff

The U.S. Senate is anything but a "deliberative" body. Senators owe it to their constituents to go to the floor & debate BBB--concluding on a recorded vote on the motion to proceed debate on the legislation. No hiding behind excuses or a single Senator--debate & record a vote.

This is both very important work assessing the validity of US vaccine intention and also why sample size doesn't always equal more accurate data--really stellar and timely work!

I think Breyer is clearly arrogant enough to believe he is not replaceable, but I hope he reverses course & retires. Hard to discuss RBG's legacy without addressing 1) mistake of not strategically retiring at any point between 2009-2014 (at 76-81 years old!) & 2) her successor.

I heard these calls all the time when I was a fellow in ’s office. Lots of members of Congress have no idea what it’s like to work under these conditions. And a reminder that it’s often staffers of color answering the phone & being subjected to this violence.

Any political scientists studying American legislatures, but especially ABDs and recent PhDs, should give this a look. In all likelihood, these fellows will join Congress with a new Speaker and Minority Leader, and who knows what in the Senate. It will be a fascinating time.

I am delighted to share a blog post at on my research on Chile's 2015 electoral reform! I find that the reform led to voters more often sincerely voting for their most-preferred party. This has implications for Sunday's election and for global electoral reform efforts.

lmao JFK ‘60 won the popular vote by 0.17% and 303 electoral votes while Biden ‘20 won by 4.4% & 306 electoral votes while *unseating an incumbent President*… But sure, let’s win presidential elections by being more JFK than Joe Biden.

VA-GOV swing not only predictive of the national partisan swing in the following midterm, this swing *also predicts* midterm seat loses in *both* House & Senate from 1962-2018! If one believes this, Ds lose ~25/~5 in House/Senate in '22 NJ not predictive of either outcome; wow!

Ask what happened between 2006 when she proudly re-authorized the Voting Rights Act and now when she blocked even discussing our most fundamental right to a say in the decisions that impact our lives.
