    I want to give some perspective for people not from Australia. More Aussie land is currently burning than exists in the entire country of Belgium. The smoke is causing breathing problems in New Zealand, 2,000km away. Half a billion animals have been killed. Eight people are dead.

    Happy holiday suggestion: let's all upload preprints to arxiv with figures and captions in place so humans can read them. And provide that copy to journals for reviewers

    We were lucky to be among the first to analyze this dataset at Summer Workshop on the Dynamic Brain 2016. Huge congrats to & the rest of the team. Highly recommend applying for the workshop as well - it shaped the direction of my thesis (plus you meet great people).

    Ironically wrt final par : when I was naive recent asst prof and NIPS workshop chair in 2007, Bob Williamson and I rejected the deep learning workshop because it already seemed big and mainstream. At the meeting Yoshua had a stern chat with me about that decision 🙂
