Is it better to add your alt lang tags in your sitemap?
Long due update to the #hreflang generator: Now it also generates hreflang tags in XML sitemap

is not that is better, both achieve the same - for a small site is much more straight-forward to do it in the HTML, but for larger ones, that is usually more complex to do (eg: due to restriction of what can be added in the code) and the XML sitemap offers a good way to do it too
