helped elect a Democrat to the US Senate in AL for the first time in more than 20 years. But we need to do more than congratulate them. Let’s address issues that disproportionately affect Black women—like pay disparity, housing & under-representation in elected office

Reminder to everyone in Alabama: the number for the DNC Voter Hotline is 833-336-VOTE. For voters with disabilities the number for the Alabama Disabilities Advocacy Program is (205) 348-4928. Above all: vote!

My god. I am absolutely stunned that a self-published story abt my childhood growing up with domestic violence has made any list - much less Sports Illustrated! Thank you so, so much. "What we allow will continue..." The Best Journalism of 2017 via

Breaking: SENATE BILL FORCES HOUSE TO VOTE ON TAX BILL AGAIN!!! If you’re tweeting your despair & defeatism instead of calling your House member, why?

When was the last time you signed a contract without reading it? This is not a democracy. A democracy does not take a vote on a bill that hasn't been read. All 52 Senators should be ashamed and removed from office.

Bad people lie because they think they can get away with it. Call them out. Good people lie because they think their truth is not good enough. Call yourself out. Your truth is always good enough. You are here for a reason. Only your truth will lead you to why.

Yes and why telling ALL of our stories is so important NOW is to combat the loud, angry voices in power who would want to push all the other beautiful stories (unlike theirs) back into the shadows, never to be seen or heard from again.

I wish the NYT & other news media would stop calling Social Security & Medicare "entitlements." Millions of Americans worked for decades & paid in for decades to receive Social Security & Medicare. It would be better to call them "social insurance" or "old age insurance" programs

Whenever I read someone agonizing and analyzing why Trump did this or said that, I feel like I'm on a long hike with a best friend and I want to interrupt her and shout: He's a bad dude! He's a terrible lover! He's never gonna change! DIVORCE HIM ALREADY!
