They likely had to show state ID to get in so its still good access control and they probably were watching these guys like a hawk. Besides, they all know all their gun rights would disappear overnight if there was a negligent discharge or worse.

They are more an ingress chokepoint than anything else. Also, as of last summer, permits are not required to carry in KY (open carry never required a permit to my knowledge). They are available for purposes of reciprocity though. http://kentuckystatepolice.org/ccdw/ccdw-home/
