I was hoping for some kind of Ruby gem that helps with webhooks and firing with exponential backoff. Anyone know a gem like that? BTW ⚙️ Tech Stack for Crypto Subscriptions Back End: Ruby on Rails Front End: JQuery, Bootstrap Version Control: Git(GitHub Desktop) Hosting: Heroku

✅ Added 'set webhook' functionality ✅ Added 'send test webhook' functionality Didn't code any logic for firing the webhook multiple times, in case servers are down etc. For now, it tries once Up next ☑️ Handle payment and fire webhook and email ☑️ Setup email reminders

⚙️ How Coinbase Commerce API works 1) You select the cryptocurrencies you want to accept 2) You create a checkout page and redirect your customer there 3) You get notified via webhook when the payment is approved by the blockchain network

⚙️ Connecting Coinbase Commerce Account There is no way to connect through OAuth so we will have to ask for API Keys, like Shopify does Then, we can call the API on their behalf!

🛠️ Setup will be easy 1) Users that want to use the API connect their Coinbase Commerce account 2) They add an embeddable widget(button) to their website 3) They get notified through email and/or web hooks about events eg. ‘User subscribed’, ‘User renewed’, ‘User did not renew’

🤖 Our API won’t do anything crazy. It will notify your subscribers automatically via email several times before their subscription expires and let you know via email and webhooks when users subscribe, renew or don't renew their subscription

Crypto payments are 'push' payments, meaning that for a user to pay, let's say, $10/mo in cryptocurrency, he/she has to send the payment explicitely himself/herself every month. What people normally do is remind every single customer every single month to pay their subscription

💡Idea While building , I saw that most of my traffic came from admins with crypto Telegram Channels, and 8/10 times they charged a subscription in crypto. I looked for some API but found nothing let me know if there is any API that have missed cc

This week I will build a simple API that helps with handling and accepting cryptocurrency subscriptions on your website 💳

You are not your product or your product's success. Remove your ego and move on 🙏 I will start building a product today and launch it this week, probably launch it on Saturday 🎉 Will start building it today. Will be posting, as always, throughout the process in this thread👇

One thing that baffles me 🤔 When is it 'giving up' and when is it leaving something behind without your ego getting in the way in order to build something new? I think focus should come after Product Market Fit, but is PMF easy without a few pivots? Dunno 🤷‍♂️

One this I learned from this de-tour in the crypto space 🤓 'YOU' can be the MVP, I could have just pretend to have the product in the first place and I wouldn't even have to build it. It is something I am working on

So then, I quickly created a spinoff product focusing on their needs, enabling crypto payments and launched it in that market also Result: 0 customers Out of the 30 admins I talked to, 1 signed up for a trial but didn't stay after that

If you don’t know what Crypto Signal Channels are, like I didn’t, it is basically channels on Telegram that notify you about the changes in the value of cryptocurrencies, and help you decide whether to buy crypto or sell. 8/10 times they charge a subscription in BTC 💰

I stayed on track and talked to many of my free users in the chatbox of the website. The conclusion I got to was that my potential customers were Crypto Signal Channel Admins and that it was a considerable-in-size market, so I made a small pivot and went at it again

The truth is I haven’t stopped coding and shipping. After launching , it went viral, got retweeted by people like Pieter Levels and got thousands of visitors. After all this hype and traffic I got.. (drumroll please) .. 0 paying customers! 🥁
