Let's hold him accountable, but also let's not blame him for problems that aren't his doing. There is no evidence that Chesa isn't holding people who commit burglaries accountable. On the other hand, the police have made arrests in only 13.3% of burglary cases vs 17.3% last year

Chesa could threaten the death penalty for burglaries, but if people aren't concerned about getting caught, then it doesn't matter. We already spend $700M on policing and it's just not effective. It's extremely difficult to be everywhere at once.

We need to invest in solutions that address the problems before a crime is committed. We need to take that money we're burning with SFPD and redirect it to a vast social safety net the truly increases public safety.
