I’m for prison abolition (eventually) and releasing non-violent offenders at least until COVID resolves. But police are arresting people for assault daily in the Tenderloin. Are they then releasing offenders back onto the streets? @chesaboudin

That's great. But I'm still seeing 20 assaults per month in the TL. That's a lot. A. What is the DA's office doing to make assaults, robberies, and theft less common? B. Don't we need to lower these further to get broad support for the kinds of reforms we both want to see?

The DA's office eliminated cash bail, draconian sentence enhancements, and reduced pre-trial detention -- all have proven criminogenic effects . They created the first primary caregiver diversion program. Stripping a child of a caregiver is a risk factor for future incarceration
