Does de Blasio believe reporters and the public shouldn’t second-guess the government during literal wars, too, or just figurative ones that he is personally struggling to manage?

He’s being pressured by the President to say past mistakes aren’t important if he wants aid from the federal government. It just dovetails with his own past remarks so he’s using that playbook for his own ends.

He said it was was a fair question. story on feds delays on testing and getting country ready will be decisive on understanding why state and local officials were late but then figured it out themselves and lead the country now.

It's funny that only the people who did really bad with their initial responses, sometimes over weeks/months (this admin, BdB) think calling this wartime is a shield. Like any general who allowed themselves to be attacked for months with no response wouldn't be criticized!
