We've been thinking about how to making permission requests for notifications less interruptive in Chrome. Trying to strike balance: loud enough for you notice the important ones and quiet enough so that you can ignore the rest. Feedback welcomed! https://blog.chromium.org/2020/01/introducing-quieter-permission-ui-for.html …pic.twitter.com/lJuBACr10K
Functionality-wise, we've had such a setting (at the top of settings for each permission type) for many years
BUT the strings were confusing so we're trying to make them more clear. Some more background here:https://twitter.com/alexainslie/status/1176612465947238400 …

thank you for your answer! Is this setting per-site or global though? I knew about the per-site settings, but the issue is (soon was! thx!) getting the pop-up, asking for notifications, for every new site you visit. Couldn't find a global switch to say never ask(still can't, tbh)

Oh - the screenshot in my tweet is about making site-specific choices while you're on the site. But a few tweets up in that thread there's a screenshot of today's global choice (with the confusing language). Here's where we're headed with that:pic.twitter.com/h4fls7GnT2
