here's a thought being a local reporter why not do a piece on Portland's Police Union . . . the good and bad . .. as I will agree any change starts there . . . also mention what our feckless local politicaims have done to stand up to them . . . probably not much

Uhhh that "good" section might be missing from that article. Given that it is the longest continuously operating police union in the U.S. while Oregon had the highest Klan membership per capita in the 20s... feel free to draw your own conclusions

Discussions of police unions are necessary because of the ability of police to wield deadly or coercive force, unlike teachers or dmv clerks. And for that reason, the discussion needs to be nuanced. The union haters would love for police unions to be the excuse to gut all unions.
